In addition to Steinway’s reputation for building world-class performance instruments for stage and studio, they are also renowned for their handcrafted, beautifully rendered exotic veneer work and art case design.
To this day there are a very limited number of pianos produced that feature particularly fine, exquisite veneers. Steinway has been producing them for many years, but in 1999 they officially designated these as the Crown Jewel Collection which included a commemorative plaque mounted at the curve of the inner rim.
Built in 1995, this model M precedes the ‘official’ designation but is, nonetheless, one of the Crown Jewells. It is encased in a warm, luxurious dark brown mahogany veneer. It’s gorgeous.
This lovely M is in superb condition, with many years of musical life remaining. It is an exceptional value compared to new – currently $132,100 in this finish.
