This is #1 of 2 Steinway-designed Boston GP163 baby grands currently available.  This one is in polished ebony and is only two years older than the other.

Designed by Steinway, the Boston Pianos fill a niche that the New York manufacturer simply could not produce locally: a more affordable performance-level piano.

Partnering with Kawai, these Boston grands are built in Japan to Steinway’s specific scale designs.

Featuring Steinway’s wide-tail design, the 5’ 4” GP163 has a richer, fuller sound than similar size baby grands.  This design allows the bass and tenor strings to be longer.  And the soundboard, like a speaker, has more “cone” and can reproduce lower frequencies, even at softer volumes.

This is an excellent choice for a serious pianist at any level demanding performance from a smaller grand at a very affordable price.
